Handcrafted from an antique wax seal stamp from late 1800’s England, this wax seal charm features a beehive, which symbolizes a well-governed industry, secrets, steadfastness, and obedience.
In medieval heraldry it was considered a symbol of industry. In modern times, it is used in Freemasonry. In masonic lectures it is explained as a symbol of industry and co-operation, and as cautioning against intellectual laziness, warning that "he that will so demean himself as not to be endeavoring to add to the common stock of knowledge and understanding, may be deemed a drone in the hive of nature, a useless member of society, and unworthy of our protection as Masons."
This charm is approximately 3/4” round and is available in fine silver and in bronze. An 18" stainless steel baby ball chain or a 18" bronze baby ball chain that closes with a ball chain connector clasp is included. Other types of chains are sold separately.
Handcrafted in my studio in Spokane, Washington, each symbolic wax seal item from The Silver Acorn is hand-stamped in reclaimed fine silver or bronze and will be slightly different and uniquely yours.
