Maltese Cross & Fleur-De-Lis Earrings

Handcrafted from a medieval wax seal stamp and a vintage wax seal stamp, this talisman features a medieval Maltese cross with a fleur-de-lis charm hanging below. The fleur-de-lis carries much symbolism including political and religious symbolism, especially in French heraldry.

The symbolism of wisdom, valor, and faith comes from the three petals representing the medieval social classes: those who studied, those who fought, and those who prayed.

The religious symbolism of the fleur-de-lis is that the three petals represent the Holy Trinity – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Maltese cross symbolizes the eight obligations or aspirations of the Knights Hospitaller (the Knights of Malta):
• to live in truth
• to have faith
• to repent one's sins
• to give proof of humility
• to love justice
• to be merciful
• to be sincere and wholehearted
• to endure persecution

These fine silver earrings measure approximately 1 1/2” from the top of the sterling silver French hooks to the bottom of the charms.

Each piece of jewelry from The Silver Acorn comes packaged in a tasteful gift box with a meaning card ready for gift-giving.

Handcrafted in my studio in Spokane, Washington, each symbolic wax seal item from The Silver Acorn is hand-stamped in reclaimed fine silver or bronze and will be slightly different and uniquely yours.
