Peace Stops War - The Genius of Peace Stopping the Horses of War

Handcrafted from an antique shell cameo from the late 1800’s, this wax seal features the Genius of Peace stopping the horses of Mars.  It was inspired by the painting of the same name by Bénigne Gagneraux (1756 – 1795).

The horses of Mars were four immortal horses named Aethon, Phlogius, Conabus and Phobus which drew the chariot of the Greek god Mars – the god of War. They are most associated with Homer's reference in the Iliad and the Trojan War.

The title Genius of Peace is referring to the beginnings of peace. In stopping Mars’ horses from trample and destruction you thereby stop war.

The charm is substantial at almost 1 7/8” x 1 1/2"oval and hangs from either a 14k gold-filled short-long cable chain when done in bronze or a sterling silver short-long cable chain when done in fine silver with a lobster clasp closure. The entire necklace measures 19” long.

Each piece of jewelry from The Silver Acorn comes packaged in a tasteful gift box with a meaning card ready for gift-giving.

Handcrafted in my studio in Spokane, Washington, each symbolic wax seal item from The Silver Acorn is hand-stamped in reclaimed fine silver or bronze and will be slightly different and uniquely yours.
