Jerusalem the Holy - Third Year Jewish War Coin

Handcrafted from the half shekel silver coin struck in Jerusalem during the third year of the Jewish war against Rome (Year 66/67 AD), with wax seal charm features the side with three budding pomegranates with the inscription “Jerusalem the Holy.”

When the Jewish Revolt against the Romans broke out in 66 AD,the revolutionaries quickly captured the holy city of Jerusalem, thus assuring them access to the great Temple for religious purposes and to its vast treasury as well.

They struck the most famous of all Jewish coins. These handsome coins are the first truly Jewish silver coins. They feature a chalice on one side with the year of the revolt above, surrounded by the ancient Hebrew inscription “Shekel of Israel.”

This fine silver charm is approximately 7/8" round and and hangs on a 24" stainless steel baby ball chain that closes with a ball chain connector clasp (see second image). Other types of chains are sold separately.
