Handcrafted from an antique intaglio made in Europe during the late 1700's to early 1800's, this talisman features a Greek sphinx which a symbol of abundance, power, wisdom, mysteries, riddles, truth, unity, and secrets.
The Greek sphinx has the head of a lady, the wings of an eagle, the body and legs of a lioness. Sometimes it was portrayed with the body of a bull and the legs of a lion.
Legends state that when someone came upon a sphinx that person would be asked to answer a riddle. If the person solved the riddle they were allowed to pass. If they could not solve the riddle they would be devoured by the sphinx.
